The ivory tower was traditionally an escape from the day-to-day grind of politics and economy. Whether or not it was ever successful in those goals, it has meant that coverage of its internal and external issues from the perspective of labor has been sparse and inconsistent. This site is committed to remedying those gaps by covering the tower from the perspective of labor. The seizure of academia by corporate sectors and the subsequent erosion of its basic commitments to educational and scholarly goals has made such coverage especially important.
